Iranian Official Stresses Role of Land Protection Unit in Safeguarding Public Assets

Gholamabbas NazarKhani, Deputy for Property and Legal Affairs at Iran’s National Land and Housing Organization, highlighted the critical role of the organization’s Protection Unit in preserving public assets, describing these resources as “non-renewable national capital inherited from previous generations.”

Speaking at the fourth national briefing session for commanders and managers of executive agencies, NazarKhani underscored that effective protection of public property enables equitable distribution of national wealth and fosters economic and social justice.

He further emphasized the preventative function of land protection, noting that the deployment of the unit’s personnel as judicial officers and the ability to act upon visible offenses have enabled authorities to curb violations against public lands at an early stage.

“If such crimes are not identified and controlled in their infancy, they often lead to more complex challenges such as environmental alterations and prolonged legal procedures,” NazarKhani said.

He called for modernized training methods in land protection, a clear understanding of legal mandates for judicial officers, and stronger collaboration with judicial and regulatory bodies. NazarKhani also highlighted the strategic role of the Protection Unit in land crime management and stressed the importance of strengthening its institutional presence and leveraging the national land management single-window system.

The session was attended by Brigadier General Ali Laqaei, Deputy Commander of the Law Enforcement Protective Units (FARAJA), and brought together senior executives from across the country’s governmental agencies.
