Basij Centers to Be Established in National Housing Movement Projects

The National Land and Housing Organization of Iran has announced plans to establish Basij (volunteer militia) centers in connection with the National Housing Movement projects, in collaboration with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to the organization’s public relations office, Ali Nabian, CEO of the National Land and Housing Organization and Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, made the announcement during a joint meeting with Brigadier General Ali Fazli, IRGC’s Deputy Coordinator. Nabian stated that while the organization’s housing efforts aim to serve all citizens, certain social groups are prioritized due to their specific needs.

Highlighting the IRGC’s capacity to contribute to community-building efforts, Nabian said that Basij centers will provide both cultural and security-related support to residents of new housing developments. He emphasized the importance of integrating essential public infrastructure—such as schools, mosques, and police stations—into housing projects under the National Housing Movement, in cooperation with relevant government agencies.

Nabian expressed hope that the collaboration between the National Land and Housing Organization and the IRGC would help address public concerns and contribute to improving the quality of life in these communities.

During the meeting, Brigadier General Fazli expressed the IRGC’s readiness to support the organization’s efforts and requested land allocations for the construction of Basij centers, hospitals, and clinics. He stressed the importance of public participation in the housing movement, particularly through cooperatives and philanthropic housing initiatives, as a means to accelerate progress.

Fazli also acknowledged the National Land and Housing Organization’s cooperation in facilitating the construction of official housing units for IRGC personnel, praising the organization’s practical and problem-solving approach.

The session also addressed other key issues including water supply for housing projects, provision of construction materials such as bitumen, and housing support for low-income Basij members.

The initiative marks a growing synergy between national defense institutions and civil development agencies in tackling Iran’s pressing housing challenges.
